How to care for your pearl?

Tahitian pearls are organic gems containing 3% water: their luster comes from thin layers of nacre. With a few simple steps, you can preserve their beauty for years.

The 5 reflexes to adopt

1/ Put it on last, take it off first
Perfume, hairspray, makeup and creams before the pearl, always.

2/ Wipe dry after each use

Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove sweat, dust, and cosmetic residue.

3/ Regular gentle cleaning
If needed, use lukewarm water and a drop of pH-neutral soap. Rinse, then dry gently.

4/ Individual storage
In a soft fabric pouch (like the one I provide), separated from other jewelry to avoid scratches.

5/ Avoid
Swimming pool, spa, sauna, hammam, intensive sport or direct heat (radiator, prolonged sun).

Step-by-step cleaning

1/ Prepare a bowl of lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap (without ammonia, without acids).

2/ Quickly dip the pearl or wipe it with a damp cloth — do not leave it soaking for a long time.

3/ Rinse with clean water.

4/ Dry without rubbing hard, with a soft cloth.

Allow it to finish drying flat before putting it back in its case.

Never use: ultrasonic cleaner, steam, hard brushes, toothpaste, silver polish, vinegar, lemon, alcohol, solvents.

Storage and precautions

- Separated : mother-of-pearl scratches easily when in contact with harder metals or stones.

- Slightly humid environment : avoid very dry and hot places for long periods (too dry chests, windowsill in full sun).

- Breathable case : Avoids airtight plastic.
